getting better

i spent a lot of today in bed too...i was still feeling somewhat sick. but in the afternoon, i forced myself to get out of the building (after a day and a half of not leaving) to go see people and get some air.

i met up with tom, skyler, and dan at the Champs de Mars, near the Tour Eiffel. we eventually tried to get to the top, but the lines were insanely long. so, we gave up that idea. (oh, a few minutes before that...we saved some random girl from a creepy guy who was bothering her on a park bench while she was reading. we sat down in between them. it was pretty hilarious...i wish i had taken a photo of it. but yeah, he left...and she said that they were very nice for doing that.)

anyways, we walked across the river, and hung out near the Trocadero...which is pretty immense. we sat on the side of a wall and people-watched for a while. then, we hopped on the metro to see the La Defense area. i guess i remembered it being more interesting than it was...but maybe that's because we were there after business hours. almost nobody was there...it was kinda' creepy. we didn't stay long.

you can see l'Arc de Triomphe in the distance!

then we returned back into town, and got some coffee at a restaurant near gwen/caroline/lexie's apartment. that was nice, since we were all exhausted. then, we went to the apartment and hung out for a while...before going out to dinner at Breakfast in America. that was an amazing end to a pretty terrible day! it made me significantly happier than i had been for the past while.

richard, look!

a replica of a Brancusi statue in their apartment!

a great moment

super chicken nachos!
(sorry for the sideways photo. i don't know why!)

we went back to the girls' apartment, and apparently we stayed too long. i missed the metro, and had to catch the Noctilien. that wasn't a problem, though...because it wasn't very cold. but the bus got really crowded near the end of my trip. that was a hassle, but whatever. i need to try to get home earlier...lol.

waiting for the Noctilien (i REALLY want to see this movie)
