spring break pt.2: zürich! (day 1)

so, the day has finally come! i'm glad that my new train was scheduled to depart a little bit later than yesterday's. i was able to wake up and get there on time, and all went smoothly. the trip there was surprisingly not bad. it was my first train ride (of that sort) ever...so i was pretty excited. i took a ton of photos just of the trip to get there. here are some of my favorites:

by the Wädenswil station

upon arrival, i found my aunt cornelia and my cousins (stephanie and beni) at the playground by the train station...right by the Zurichsee. (a HUGE lake/sea that takes about 2 hours to drive around. it's amazingly beautiful, though.)
we went to their apartment, which is on a vividly green hill heading up to the mountains. it's a spectacular place, despite how they think it's too small and stuff. i thought it was perfect!
then, we left again to take a ferry across the sea to go meet my uncle theo at a restaurant, where they were having a meeting with an architect about building a house. once there, stephanie and i sat around at one of the outdoor tables and had some icecream. it was pretty quiet and awkward, because i thought that she could only speak german. and i forgot a lot of what i knew. turns out, later on, i learned that she's fluent in english too! haha. she probably enjoyed laughing at me (on the inside) at my horrible german.

awww, kleine beni was cold from the wind

my attempt at entertaining stephanie.
she didn't think it was that cool, haha.

then, we all went to a town on the other end of the sea, called Rapperswil. it was really nice...a very "seaside-like" town. we walked around and saw a bunch of random things as the sun set. it's quite a beautiful town. then, we returned to their house for dinner. it was an early night, but that's good...because i was exhausted! haha. either way, day 1: success.
