learned some history of the city

thursday was another lazy day for me...since i only have one class, from 2:00-5:00.
i slept until about noon, again, and then finished some homework while eating some lunch, and then went to my class.

my stop for school

18 Mai - COMPLET! (but i'm going anyway!!! very excited)

my French History class was interesting last week, but it was REALLY interesting today!
we spent part of the time learning about the Roman-era history of the city of Paris, or Lutèce as it was then known. it was amazing to learn so much about the city, and how much of the ruins and remains are still there! and why certain parts of the city weren't settled at first because of their topography, etc. (and it's interesting to realize that they are some of the most populated parts of Paris today! ironic. very ironic. like, Le Marais, for example. and what it means, and what Le Marais is known for...haha, it's hilarious.)

anyways, after class i headed back...relaxed for a while, and then went to Gwen & Lexie & Caroline's apartment. it was a fun night! we met a friend of Krystina's, who is in Paris for a week with a study abroad group in Berlin. (but they spend a week in Paris and a week in St.Petersburg too) and then a few of her friends too. it's great making connections with people from all over the place. i really enjoy it.

random shot (no clue what was happening here, lol)

the night ended poorly, though. even though i left at around 12:30 (which is on-time for the métro!) i made it into the métro station only to be told over the loudspeaker than the line was closing early. so i started walking down Rue de Rivoli in the freezing, windy cold night. i made it a third of the way home and gave up. i grabbed a taxi, but that was expensive! i will not be doing that again...definitely not. i will look up the Noctilien (night-bus) routes. haha. otherwise, it was a good day.

seats in the métro station...i find them interesting
