j'ai mangé beaucoup de haricots!

monday, monday...bah dah, bah dah dah dah...

(does anyone know where that's from? if you do, many props to you)

but yeah, it was exactly that. a normal monday.
it was an early wakeup, a crowded subway train ride, and then French Language class.
i feel like i'm actually getting better at speaking French, at least in class. i am getting less awkward at forming sentences in a decent amount of response time. so, that's a good sign!

never seen a bike like this before. BMW, so fancy!

after the class, i met up with tom and got some sandwiches from PAUL, the great sandwich place a block away from school. i also got a tartelette de framboise, which was fantastic! it wasn't exactly like the kind i had two years ago in Paris, but it was a good start. i will make it to that place someday soon, i hope. if i can ever wake up earlier than an hour before my class starts. haha.
back home, i used to have to wake up at least 2 hours before my class started just to make it to downtown Atlanta on time. so, now that i live IN the city...i am a minute away (walking) from the subway stop. so i can sleep later. and that i do...every day. but i should make myself wake up earlier, and eat. i usually never eat breakfast. ok, enough of that tangent.

my tartelette de framboise

tom and i walked around aimlessly for a while before he headed off to CEA and i headed to my Phonetics class. this class is getting SO interesting! we're learning the international phonetic alphabet, and writing phrases in it (like the title of this blog post, for example, haha) and then repeating them over and over. haha.

Mme Palmiero, teaching us to pronounce (she's so spunky)

i went grocery shopping after class, and then successfully stuffed all of my groceries into my refrigerator box. it seems like a small victory...but to me, it was a big one. then, i made a really great salad for myself and did some homework. i sat in the common room for hours, talked to a bunch of people, drank some tea, etc. etc.
the internet here is really terrible, by the way. everyone is complaining that it is not working well. i hope they are able to fix it soon. that is all for now...i think.

i think i did pretty well...economising?

  3. Like Peter said! The Mamas and the Papas! I listened to a lot of oldies as a kid.

The service I get your blog posts through didn't update me until today and now gave me like 8 entries in a row to read. I have been reading them all in a row, like someone at a buffet of French awesomeness. We miss you over here. Claire and I hung out recently and talked about it. I love your posts, though!! They're really insightful and the photos are the best. Miss ya boo.

From what I've seen, France has good taste in graffiti.
